Last winter, my friend Allison saw a really cute infinity scarf that was out of her price range. The scarf was a big chunky knit, perfect for an Iowa winter. Armed with yarn, a size N crochet hook, and one photo of the scarf, I set out to copy it as closely as I could.
Anytime I create an item without a pattern or the original to look at, I ask a lot of questions. It's important to know how long and wide someone wants a scarf, or how snugly they'd like a hat to fit.
Allison wanted her scarf long enough to wrap around twice, and wide enough to protect her face from the bitter Iowa winds. I used the double crochet stitch to make one long scarf and then attached the ends when I was done.
The completed scarf is huge and warm! I'd say Allison looks pretty happy with the finished product.
