This hat was a gift for Skylar's first Valentine's Day. It's the same hat as Genevieve's Hat from the last post, except smaller and made with variegated yarn by Loops and Threads. Little Miss Skylar looks cute enough to eat!
This hat started as a Christmas gift, then was meant for Valentine's Day, and eventually was a slightly tardy first birthday gift (I sometimes have a problem with procrastination, especially when the post office is involved!). G's hat is pink, with a crochet heart (see crochet heart headband post for a link to the pattern). It looks especially stylish with her red hair, and was crocheted using Vanna's Choice yarn in Dusty Rose. My friend Amelia and I share a love of pink and purple accessories. One year for Christmas, she made me a chain scarf with pink and purple chains. I responded with a pink and purple striped hat. Amelia's hat is the same pattern of the Cable Hat I made for my friend Nate, but without the cables. I knit wide stripes for more distinctive colors. At the top, I added a colorful pom-pom for fun! Last Valentine's Day I stumbled across an awesome pattern for crochet hearts, which can be found here at Couple More Hours: http://www.couplemorehours.com/2013/01/tutorial-crochet-heart-pins.html?m=1 These hearts are a fast little project and a great way to stash bust. As a gift for my cousins, I made a bunch and tied them to headbands. As you can see in the photo above, they turned out super cute! When my cousin Dynah was younger, she really liked pink camo (It's to be expected when you have an uncle and a cousin in the army!). For one of her birthdays, I found pink camo yarn and made her the same hat as our boy cousins. I love making items for new babies, so when my friend Becca's daughter Ava Lynn was on the way, there was no question that I should make more booties! I used the same pattern I created for Violet's Ugg Boots (see the post here: http://www.kbeeknits.com/1/category/baby%20booties/1.html), with white yarn soles and pink and white variegated yarn uppers. I used cotton yarn and a size H crochet hook to create the booties, and plastic buttons to keep them on Ava's feet. Have you ever wanted the look of an over the shoulders sweater, but the weather was too warm? The Key West Wrap is the knit for all your preppy needs. This wrap is a one-piece half-sweater for accessorizing when it's too warm to need a sweater. The pattern can be purchased here: http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/key-west-wrap I've been seeing crochet necklaces on Pinterest for months now, so I decided to make my own. The necklace crochets quickly. The pattern can be adjusted for any size yarn. This blanket was knit using Lion Brand Homespun and size 15 needles. I seem to remember it taking approximately 14 million skeins of yarn. The loose knit of the blanket helps keep the user warm but not too hot while relaxing on the screened in porch during chilly seasons. Most importantly, cats love it! |
